Definition of globalization 

According to the original saying globalization is derived from the word "Global" whose meaning is universal. Globalization is a process of global society and knows no boundaries. Globalization is essentially a process of ideas raised, then offered to be followed by other nations who eventually come to a point of agreement with and become guidelines for nations around the world. Globalization has become a word that has special meaning. Many users understand the term globalization is different from the true meaning. The reality of this kind can be accepted since there is no single definition of globalization.

That globalization has many people interpret the meaning of globalization depends on a certain side, there are those who interpret globalization based on the world of education, social, economic, political. So that the word globalization has a diverse understanding.

Opinions J.A. Scholte (2002: 15-17) which concluded that there are at least five categories of the understanding of globalization that is commonly found in the literature. The definitions of the five categories relating to one another and sometimes overlap, but each contains a unique element.

1. Globalization as internationalization 

With this understanding, globalization is seen as merely 'an adjective (adjective) to describe the relationship between the borders of various countries'. He describes the growth in international exchange and interdependence. The greater the volume of trade and capital investment, then the inter-state economy increasingly integrated into the global economy in which national economies are distinctive `dissipated and an articulated back into the system through the process and agreements'.

2. Globalization as liberalization 

In this sense, "globalization" refers to a process of elimination of the barriers created by the government to mobility between countries to create an open world economy and no-limit. Those who argue the importance of removing barriers to trade and capital controls usually hide behind the mantle of globalization.

3. globalization as universalization 

In this concept, the global word is used with the understanding that the process of globalization is global and deployment process various objects and experiences to everyone all over the world. The classic example of this concept is the spread of computer technology, television, internet, and others.

4. Globalization as westernization or modernization (in the form of a more Americanised) 

Globalization in this context is understood as a dynamic, in which the social structures of modernity (capitalism, rationalism, industrialism, bureaucratism, etc..) Disseminated all over the world, which is in the process tends to destroy the local culture that has been established and depriving the self-determination local people.

5. Globalization as the elimination of territorial boundaries (or as the distribution of supra-territoriality) 

Globalization encourages reconfiguration of geography, so that social space is no longer merely mapped by territorial region, territorial distances and territorial boundaries. In this context, globalization is also understood as a process (or set of processes) which gave birth to a transformation in the spatial organization of social relations and transactions-in terms of extensity, intensity, velocity and impact that mobility play inter-continental or inter-regional as well as network activity.
